Who is it that would loan Allah a goodly loan so He may multiply it for him many times over? And it is Allah who withholds and grants abundance.

Description

This verse encourages Muslims to give charity sincerely, promising that Allah will reward them greatly in return.

Detailed Explanation

In this verse, the concept of giving to Allah through acts of charity is highlighted. The idea of a "goodly loan" means that when you give with sincerity and selflessness, Allah will not only appreciate your efforts but also multiply your reward many times over. This teaches us that by helping others, especially those in need, we are actually serving our own greater good as well. According to the Tafsir of Ibn Kathir, this verse is about motivating believers to spend in the way of Allah. When you give charity, it is as if you are lending to Allah, and Allah promises to repay you manifold. The Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) emphasized the significance of charity numerous times. In one Hadith, he said, "Charity does not decrease wealth." This means that even though you give something away, the blessings and goodness that come back to you make you even wealthier, not just in material terms, but in spiritual satisfaction and moral fulfillment as well. Understanding this concept helps you appreciate why charity (Sadaqah) is so important in Islam. It fosters a sense of community, generosity, and compassion within society. Moreover, knowing that Allah is the one who controls all provisions—granting abundance and withholding it as He wills—teaches reliance on divine wisdom and encourages you to trust that your acts of kindness will always be returned to you in some form, perhaps in this life, or in the Hereafter.
