Say, O believers, 'We have believed in Allah and what has been revealed to us and what was revealed to Abraham, Ishmael, Isaac, Jacob, and the Descendants, and what was given to Moses and Jesus, and what was given to the prophets from their Lord. Description

This verse teaches Muslims to believe in all the prophets and revelations sent by Allah, treating them all with equal respect.

Detailed Explanation

This verse from the Quran reminds you that as a Muslim, you should believe in all the prophets and revelations sent by Allah over time. It highlights that Islam is not just about following Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) but also involves respecting the teachings of Prophet Ibrahim (PBUH), Prophet Isma'il (PBUH), Prophet Ishaq (PBUH), Prophet Ya'qub (PBUH), Prophet Musa (PBUH), and Prophet Isa (PBUH), among others. Believing in all prophets and revelations equally signifies that Muslims value and uphold the oneness of the divine message throughout history. According to Tafsir Ibn Kathir, this verse establishes a firm foundation of unity among Muslims by acknowledging the common thread of all divine messages. This idea of unity is not just about respecting others' beliefs but is a strong statement of faith, as it emphasizes the completeness and continuity of Allah's guidance to humankind. By saying "We make no distinction between any of them," it teaches you to appreciate that each prophet played a crucial role in spreading Allah's word and that each revelation was significant for its time. Believing in all prophets and their messages is an important pillar of faith because it helps bridge differences and promotes peace and understanding among people of various faiths and backgrounds. By following this principle, you are encouraged to live in harmony and mutual respect with others, realizing that we are all part of Allah's creation, guided by the same divine light. Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) also emphasized the importance of respecting other prophets in several Hadiths, which supports this notion of universality of faith in Islam.
