Talut

The Just King of Israel

Period: Around 1000 BCE

Biography

Talut (Saul) was a king chosen by Allah to lead the Israelites when they were weak and struggling. The Israelites asked their prophet for a strong leader to help them fight against their enemies. Allah chose Talut, but some people doubted him because he was not from a wealthy or noble family. However, he was wise, strong, and guided by Allah. Under Talut’s leadership, the Israelites prepared for battle against a powerful army led by a giant named Jalut (Goliath). On their journey, Talut tested his soldiers by telling them not to drink too much water from a river. Many failed the test, but a small group remained strong. Among them was a young man named Dawud (David), who later defeated Jalut with Allah’s help. Talut’s story teaches us that true leadership comes from wisdom, strength, and faith, not just wealth or status.
