Ismail
The Truthful and Patient
Period: Around 2000 BCE
Biography
Ismail (Ishmael) was the son of Prophet Ibrahim and Hajar. When he was a baby, Allah commanded Ibrahim to take Hajar and Ismail to the desert of Makkah, where there was no food or water. Hajar searched desperately for water, running between two hills, Safa and Marwah. Then, by Allah’s mercy, a miraculous spring of water called Zamzam appeared, saving them.
As Ismail grew up, he became a righteous and patient person. One day, Allah tested Ibrahim by commanding him to sacrifice his beloved son. Ismail, showing great faith, was willing to obey Allah’s command, but before the sacrifice could happen, Allah replaced him with a ram. This event is remembered every year during Eid al-Adha.
Later, Ismail helped his father Ibrahim build the Kaaba in Makkah, which became the most sacred place of worship for Muslims. He is known for his patience, obedience to Allah, and helping to establish Makkah as a center of faith.
