Jalut
The Mighty Warrior
Period: Around 1000 BCE
Biography
Jalut (Goliath) was a powerful warrior and leader of an army that fought against the Israelites. He was known for his great size, strength, and fearsome presence on the battlefield. Many people were afraid of him, and no one dared to challenge him in battle.
During a war between the Israelites, led by King Talut (Saul), and Jalut’s army, the young Dawud (David) stepped forward to fight him. Even though Dawud was small and had no armor, he had strong faith in Allah. With just a slingshot and a single stone, Dawud struck Jalut on the forehead, defeating him. This victory was a turning point for the Israelites and led to Dawud becoming a great leader.
Jalut’s story teaches us that physical strength alone does not make someone victorious—faith and courage are more important.
